The Concept
What happens when you combine world-class photography with AI filmmaking, and traditional post production? We worked with photographer Ryan Hopkinson’s recent Dior Sauvage campaign as a starting point.
(This is not a commissioned Dior campaign – it’s a creative test showcasing the potential of combining premium photography with AI workflows)
Dior Sauvage Inspired Film (Creative Test Project)
Process:
– Two-week production timeline
– Storyboarded and planned like traditional film production
– Multiple AI tools and custom workflow; Seedream, VEO, Flux, Nano Banana, ComfyUI (coding custom nodes) and many more.
– Traditional VFX, compositing, and colour grading throughout
– Iterative approach for precise control over movement and mood.
The Approach:
Taking Ryan’s original campaign photography captured for Dior , we built a complete cinematic narrative. Approximately 30% of shots derive from his original stills, brought to life through AI animation. The remaining footage was generated or composited, but every frame stays true to the aesthetic Ryan established through his photography.
Why This Matters:
This represents an evolution in campaign production, not a replacement of photography.
High-quality photography becomes more valuable than ever – it sets the creative foundation for entire motion ecosystems. A dozen carefully crafted hero shots can now expand into comprehensive film content while maintaining the photographer’s artistic vision and aesthetic consistency.
The Result:
A cinematic, dramatic film featuring sweeping landscapes, product moments, and narrative storytelling. . The combination of AI efficiency with post-production craft and creative direction delivers premium results that would traditionally require extensive location film shoots.
Looking Forward:
We see this workflow transforming how photographers and brands collaborate on campaigns. The photographer’s vision guides everything, while AI and post-production expertise extend that vision into motion without compromising quality or creative control.
